It is possible to visit Tibetan style ‘inner dolpa’ villages in Trap and Phoksundo Lake there. Both Buddhist and Hindu people inhabit the region equally. The region abounds in a host of snow peaks including the seventh highest peak in the world. We commence our trek by flying to the small airstrip of Jumla and we end it with a flight from Japal to Nepalgunj and travel by bus or fly back to Kathmandu.
Dolpo is located inside Shey Phoksundo National Park of Mid-Western Nepal, behind the North side of Dhaulagiri massif towards the Tibetan Plateau. Cut off by a series of very high passes, closed by snow most the year, Dolpo remains truly and isolated corner of Nepal. Time has stood still here centuries, so has inhabitant’s way and wonderful variety of plants and wildlife, including the blue sheep and snow leopard.
Upper Dolpo is difficult to reach and is very arid. We pass through a great variation of scenery between Dolpo and Mustang, rice and wheat fields, incredible mountains and a high-altitude desert, all in the rain shadow of the Himalaya. This variation makes this trek very interesting.
Treeking to Lo Manthang, Mustang is a sensational journey beyond the Himalayan to one of the most remote kingdom on earth. Hidden behind the Himalayan Giants of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The capital city of Nepal is Kathmandu. The largest Himalayan state in Asia. It has been the center of Nepal’s history, art, culture and economy. Little wonder perhaps, that the city has also deftly embraced the tourist business. Well this temple city boasts of its cultural heritage through its highly illustrated seven groups of monuments that display the full range of historic and artist achievement which the valley is world famous for. The heritages include Durbar Square of Hanuman Dhoka, Patan, and Bhaktapur, the Buddhist stupe of Swayambhu and Baudhanath and the hindu temple of Pashupatinath and changunarayan.
Durbar Square is located in the center of Kathmandu. Around central Durbar Square/ there is a royal place, pagodas, courtyard, temples and kumari house, the residence of the living goddess Durbar Square was surrounded with spectacular architecture and vividly show. The Kathmandu Durbar Square held the palaces of the Malla and Shah kings who ruled over the city. Along with these palaces, the square surrounds quadrangles, revealing courtyards and temple cases the great skills of the Newar artists and craftsmen over several centuries.
There are many temples here also. The most notable build is Taleju Temple dedicated to the female royal deity, Taljeu Bhawani. Baudhanath is situated at North East of Kathmandu. It is the largest Stupa in Nepal that rises for 36 meters. This Stupa is build by Lichhivi King Manadeva in the fifth century AD. It is a various level of terraces, and its painted in pastel, and it adorned with a prayer flags. It is set in the mandala design.
The Baudhanath is constructed on an octagonal base on a flat land in the center of Tibetan settlement. Altogether 108 images and 147 of prayers wheels adorn the base of the huge circle edifice. The settlement of Baudhanath has the largest community of Tibetans-12000 in all.
Swayambhunath is a Buddhist stupa on a western hill of Kathmandu. More than 2500 years old this ancient landmark is connected to visit the of Manjushree who created Kathmandu a lake then by draining its waters. The sage saw a celestial lotus in the bloom of top of this hill and sanctified it.
The Stupa of Swayambhu is a hemispherical mound of compacted earth, and is built to specific rules and is replete with symbols. The temple of change Narayan is the oldest existing pagoda in the Kathmandu valley. It is situated atop a ridge to one side of the valley and dates back to the firth century. The lavishly ornamented two storied temple offers one of the finest example of pagoda architecture lie scattered around the courtyard, most notably images depicting different manifestation of Vishnu. Pokhara is a famous lake city in the mid-western Nepal. The tourist hotspot is 6 hours’ drive or it is reachable by 20 minutes flight from Kathmandu. It is an interesting natural site across the Seti River past Batulechaur village in the north of Pokhara valley. The lake in the immediate vicinity of the city is Phewa Tal with island temple dedicated to goddess Barahi in the middle with its serene and a nicely preserved forest on the adjoining southern slope, this legendary second largest lake of the kingdom remains a major source of attraction for the visiting tourists. Located some 27 kmwest of Lumbini lies the ruins of historic town of Kaplivastu. Believed to be the capital of Sakya republic where the Lord lived and enjoyed his life until his thirtieth year, Kapilvastu has been identify with Tilaurakot by the archaeologists. Also, the place is believed to have been associated with different important episodes There are ruins and mounds of old stupa and monasteries made of king burnt bricks and clay –morter the ramin are surrounded by moat and the walls of the city are made of bricks. In fact, the ruina of the city of kapil vastu are in a such grand scale that it could easily by visualized as seat of high culture.
About 10km northwest of Taulihawa there is a rectangular fortified area, which is popularly kwon as Arourakot. Thefortified area was identified by the famour Idian archeaologist p.c. Mukharji as the natal town of kanakmuni Bauddha remains of ancient moat and brick fortification around the kot can still by clearly located.
